A bit of history.....
Mason was founded in 1815 as the Village of Palmyra by Major William Mason, a Revolutionary War hero.  Twenty years later its name was changed to the Village of Mason, in his honor.  Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries Mason has steadily grown into what is now a major city in southwestern Ohio.  The history in which our city has endured is indeed interesting and educational.  We as a society intend to keep it alive.
The Gathering Place
The Mason Historical Society meets on the third Tuesday of every month.  Our meetings are held at the Gathering Place, which is located at 207 Church St., Mason, Ohio.  This is also the site of our beautiful museum.  All are welcome and are encouraged to attend, especially Masonians!
The Alverta Green Museum
The Alverta Green Museum is home to many historical photographs, documents, and artifacts which gives the history of Mason a unique perspective.  This gorgeous Victorian building also houses a library for historical and geneaology research.  Currently our hours are 1-4pm, Thursday and Friday, or by appointmet.  For more information call 513-398-6750.  Admission is free.  Donations accepted.
